Strategy Development

A key priority for the SSNGM is the development of a Genomics Strategy for Scotland to be published by the Scottish Government in summer 2023. We have established Strategic Working Groups with experts from across Scotland who will make recommendations for their area of expertise for inclusion into the Genomics Strategy for Scotland. Seven Strategic Working Groups have been stepped up to help support the development of a Genomics Strategy for Scotland, details of each groups progress can be viewed in our newsletters.

Strategic Intent: Genomics Healthcare

Published in March 2023, the strategic intent document sets out the vision and lays the foundations for our genomics strategy. This sets out the key areas to build on for our genomic medicine services and the necessary infrastructure required within Scotland to do so.

The strategic intent document can be viewed here: Genomics in Scotland: Building our Future – gov.scot (www.gov.scot)

Our Strategy: Genomics Healthcare

Following the recommendations of the working groups mentioned above, a 5 year Genomics Strategy for Scotland will be published in the summer of 2023. The Strategy, which will be the first of many genomic related publications, will act as a bridge between research, policy, and implementation into clinical practise.

Implementation Plan

Following the publication of the Genomics Strategy a Genomics Implementation Plan for Scotland will be published. The implementation plan will be produced through collaboration with key partners across across Scotland and will draw on the expertise available through the SSNGM.
