Genomic Medicine Strategy

The Genomics Strategy for Scotland was published by the Scottish Government in April 2024. We established Strategic Working Groups with experts from across Scotland who made recommendations for their area of expertise for inclusion into the Genomics Strategy for Scotland. Seven Strategic Working Groups were set up to help support the development of a Genomics Strategy for Scotland.

Our Strategy: Genomics Healthcare

 Following the recommendations of the working groups mentioned above, in April 2024, the Scottish Government published its first ever Genomic Medicine Strategy. The new five-year strategy will expand access to genomic testing to improve diagnoses and outcomes, particularly for patients with cancer or rare conditions. The Strategy and an initial one-year implementation plan was produced through collaboration with key partners across across Scotland and will draw on the expertise available through the SSNGM.
